A layout that maximizes usable floor area but compromises escape routes or sprinkler performance may require substantial rework.

There are also commercial trade-offs. A full change-of-use application may allow a more suitable long-term operation, but it may take longer and require more supporting studies. Retaining the existing approved use may be faster, but only if the intended activity genuinely falls within it. The right approach depends on the lease period, capital expenditure, business model, and future expansion plans.
